I have noticed that the formatting of chiasms and the length of these studies does not translate well to a blog post. Today, I am going to post a summary of the study with a link to the full PDF version. I hope you are blessed and edified by both formats.
Psalm 2 is a classic chiasm with 2 very important messages. The center of the chiasm is:
7 I will tell of the decree: YHWH said to me,
“You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
This verse is surrounded by descriptions of the rage, wrath, and destruction of the nations (the wicked). What we can take away is no matter how we have rebelled, YHWH has provided His Son as a way back to Him.
The second point is found by contrasting Psalm 1 and 2. With Torah (Ps 1), we are trees planted by streams of water producing fruit that will heal the nations. Without Torah (PS 2), we are like empty clay pots that will be shattered with a rod of iron.
In Conclusion
While the nations rage, we rejoice. We have chosen a life of joy and are able to rest assured that YHWH has provided a way back to Him through His Son. HalleluYAH!
